WP Ultimate V1.1.8 coming soon
Just working on my new release for the WP Ultimate plugin.
Had to setup a dev site to work on the plugin in a live hosting enviroment to check some of the bugs out.
Firefox Cleanup
Just been cleaning up my firefox window. I have so many addons (mainly for web development) and all my bookmarks across the screen, there was barely a url textbox to use. Here is my new cleaned up browser window with no distractions lying around.
After customizing the toolbars i’ve been able to put all my addons across the bottom right of the screen:
Stumbelupon
Webpage Validator
Firebug
Shareaholic Stats Monitor
Shareaholic bookmarker
YSlow
WebRank SEO Toolbar
Adobe BrowserLabs
A colour Picker addon i forgot the name of
ScreenGrab!
I also got rid of all my bookmarks toolbar and put the home icon before the url box (as it was before firefox 5).
CloudFlare analysis
Just been checking my stats on the new web app cloudflare. Im not going to go too much into what it does, but the basics of it are very good and in my opinion a must for every website, the savings must be even better for high traffic/bandwidth sites.
Basically instead of routing your domain to your hosting account, you send it to to the cloudflare network and they then run checks etc before sending it to your site.
The checks it does are checks for web spammers and generally people/bots you dont want being sent to your site. You get options on how harsh your security settings are and the app checks against a daily maintained list of good/bad visitors.
If its bad the app challenges them with captures and details of why (like a spam check on a contact form).
On top of that the cloudflare network has a CDN which caches your pages and makes your site A: faster and B: reduces the load on your server (cached pages don’t even get to your hosting account they are delivered from the CDN).
My site was pretty fast anyway (being a web designer it should to promote that i dont make bloated sites). And loaded in under 1 second. My site is also quite new so the traffic is relativley low, but even i have seen the benifits.
Using FireBug i can tell my site is slighly more responsive and susequent page views are dramatically faster. (I belive the added responsivness is more down to the more local dns lookup from the CDN as the pages are very well optimised already).
The bandwidth savings i have seen over the past week or so have been about 50% and the same can be said for the page requests.
The app also gives you a easy interface which can detail unique visits, visitor type, and hits. Its a basic analytics system, but if needed (which i dont) you can use get clicky or still add your desired analytics through the app.
Below are the screenshots and i hope you all take a look and give it a whirl. setup is quite simple (DNS changes for domain are about as complex as it gets).
Just setup a wordpress.com blog
Ive just setup a WordPress.com blog. Ive linked it to this account so the info will be the same, but i should be able to provide access to my content for more people by sending it over different channels.
This is my first post
Okay so yes, this is another social profile, on yet another social website. I think this one may be key though. it posts to my other accounts too so i should (in theory) be able to just post once to this account and the others should update.
